Beginners head to Tahoe Donner ($39) and Soda Springs ($35).

Squaw Valley opened in 1949 with a lodge, a rope tow and one chair lift and eleven years later Squaw Valley hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics. Squaw Valley is a world class destination ski resort as well as a year round recreation playground. It is a well known fact that Squaw Valley is also home to Wildflour Baking Company – famous for its chocolate chip cookies (winter only)!
