Sugar Bowl & Northstar

Sugar Bowl is growing. Gone are the days of the family ski hill. It’s still quaint and charming, but more and more skiers are discovering the fun to be had at Sugar Bowl. Located off of I-80 on Old Highway 40, Sugar Bowl is a closer jaunt for Bay Area drivers. Sugar Bowl boasts a beautiful new lodge, The Mt. Judah Lodge, and offers a plethora of excellent ski programs. Stunning homes dot the mountain-sides and ski-in / ski-out condos sit right at the base of the ski slopes.

Northstar, located East of Truckee off of Highway 267, is a bustling and fun place and is active year-round. In addition to The Village at Northstar and Northstar Highlands, there are may other condos and home to choose from in the Northstar area. There are older and newer parts of Northstar. Donner Summit

Donner Summit is a paradise for recreation. At an approximate elevation of 7300′ it is home to Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch and Boreal. Cross country skiers enjoy one of California’s finest cross country ski resorts - Royal Gorge. These areas are located west of Truckee near Interstate 80. Donner Summit offers four seasons of recreation. The surrounding forested region has many lakes, streams, meadows, trails, paths, campgrounds, all season resorts, and recreational activities. Communities on Donner Summit include Serene Lakes, Soda Springs, PlaVada Woodlands, Kingvale, Norden, & Towle Mountain, offering a wide range of properties from small cabins to acreage parcels.

Donner Lake

Donner Lake is bordered on the east by the Donner Memorial State park, Interstate 80 to the north and Donner Summit to the west. Donner Lake offers a breathtaking alpine setting with fantastic summer recreation. There are many public docks on the lake’s north shore for use, which make a perfect place to picnic, fish, or just relax in the sun. The Truckee Donner Park & Recreation maintain the Public Beach on the lake’s west shore. Locals refer to this as “West End Beach”. This is the location of the annual 4th of July extravaganza where locals show up before dawn to stake their claim on the beach. The day is filled with water balloon fights, egg toss contests, three legged hops, live bands and lots of food. A grand fireworks show after sunset brings a perfect day to a close. Enjoyed by both Primary owners and vacation home owners, you can have a cabin in the woods or lakefront luxury lodge!

Cambridge Estates, The Meadows, Glenshire & Juniper Hills

Juniper Hills and The Meadows, both near Glenshire, are gated acreage communities that are zoned for horses. Beautiful mountains, tranquil settings and awesome views describe this special area. It’s out of the way but not too far away! Cambridge Estates shares similar attributes but is not a gated community.

Located six miles East of Truckee, Glenshire is the community that many families choose as their place to call home.
