You don’t want to miss The Great Ski Race on Sunday, March 1st. This 30 kilometer (almost 18.5 miles) race goes from Tahoe City to Truckee, climbs 1200 feet over Starratt Pass and along Sawtooth Ridge and boasts beautiful and breathtaking views of the Sierra Crest and Lake Tahoe.
The race is for EVERYONE. Skiers range from some of the best Nordic racers in the country to recreational skiers and children too! Come dressed in the latest gear or come in a costume – either way you’ll fit right in. This is a great extravaganza, a celebration of community with a fabulous party at the end.
The race starts at 9 am at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area in Tahoe City. Pre-registration has ended but you can still register in person on Friday (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM), Saturday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), or Sunday (race day) up until 8:30 AM at the Tahoe Cross Country ski area. Cost: $65.
The Great Ski Race is the primary fundraising event for Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, an all volunteer group focused on conducting fast, safe rescues and educating the public on winter safety. Your participation in the race enables the team to achieve these goals.
